Trimming your hair on a regular basis is a must in order to maintain it's healthy glow and to ensure it's growth and beauty. Trimming the hair guards against the damages that everyday maintenance rituals such as combing, pulling, applying heat and chemical treatments such as relaxers, color, and drying hair products. The ends of your hair can split, dry and break and if that damaged hair is not removed, it will sap nutrients from the healthy hair causing the damage to spread. Even if you are trying to grow your hair, you should not shy away for trimming the ends on a regular basis. How often you trim your hair will vary according to professionals from monthly to six to eight weeks. Even more important is when you trim your hair if you want to ensure growth, beauty and strength. At The GreenSistah™Project, we recommend that Lunar (moon) Cycle for the best times to trim your "Crowning Glory"
For centuries people connected to the earth have relied on the cycles of the moon to plant crops predict the birth of a child and woman's menstrual cycle and determine the best time to trim hair for length, strength, and beauty. Just as a farmer would not plant or harvest her crops during the wrong time of year, the earth connected GreenSistah™ would not trim her hair during the phase of the moon that would not produce the desired results. Just like a vegetable or tree planted in the soil, so is the hair planted deep within the follicles in the scalp.
According to the "Hair Shaman" Anthony Morrocco, "Our body is a microcosm of the earth. Like this planet's varietal vegetation — algae, seaweed, plants, flowers and trees — our body has similar diversified vegetation in our pubic hair; facial, eyebrow and eyelash hair; torso and appendage hair and, of course, our Crowning Glory." Throughout the various phases of the moon their is an optimal time to trim your hair for growth, beauty, strength, to repair your roots or to slow down growth. For example, as I'm writing this article on April 12, 2018 the moon is in it's waning phase. During this phase, the moon's illumination is growing smaller each day until the new moon. My Elders call this the dark of the moon. Planting during the waning phase encourages healthy root growth for crops and trimming your hair during this time of the moon will encourage strong healthy hair roots.
Years ago, I discovered The Lunar Hair Cutting Chart at Morrocco Method.com and have used it ever since. I shared it with my newsletter subscribers and received testimony after testimony about it's accuracy. You can download your own copy free of charge at www.morroccomethod.com. I keep mine taped to my bathroom mirror.
